The Dress Vault – Rental Agreement Last Updated: [Insert Date] This Rental Agreement (“Agreement”) is a legal contract between you (“User,” “Renter,” or “Owner”) and The Dress Vault (“The Dress Vault,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), governing the rental, listing, and exchange of dresses and accessories (“Items” or “Products”) facilitated through our website. By using The Dress Vault’s platform to rent or list an Item, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement, our Terms of Service, and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use our platform or services.

  1. General Terms The Dress Vault is an online platform that allows users to list, rent, and exchange dresses and related items. All transactions occur directly between users. The Dress Vault is not a party to any rental agreement between users and does not verify the quality, authenticity, or condition of any listed Item. By participating, you agree that all rentals are conducted at your own risk, and The Dress Vault is not responsible for loss, damage, or disputes arising from user-to-user transactions.
  2. Payments and Fees All rental fees must be paid in full at the time of booking. By placing an order, you authorize The Dress Vault to charge your payment method for: The total rental fee and applicable taxes, and Any additional charges outlined in this Agreement, including late fees, damages, or unreturned Item fees. You represent that the payment information provided is accurate and that you are authorized to use the chosen payment method.
  3. Shipping and Delivery Shipping arrangements are the sole responsibility of the Renter and the Owner. Both parties must communicate and agree on: The shipping method, Expected delivery and return dates, and Who covers shipping costs. The Dress Vault does not provide shipping labels or boxes and is not responsible for any shipping delays, lost packages, or damage occurring during shipment.
  4. Fit, Returns, and Refunds Upon receipt of an Item, the Renter must inspect and try on the dress immediately. If the dress does not fit or does not match the description or photos, the Renter must: Notify the Owner within 12 hours of delivery, and Return the Item in the same condition for a full refund. Failure to report issues within 12 hours forfeits any right to a refund. Refunds will be processed once the Owner confirms receipt and inspection of the returned Item.
  5. Late Returns and Unreturned Items All rented Items must be returned on or before the agreed-upon return date. If an Item is returned more than five (5) days late, the Renter will be charged a $30 late fee. If an Item is not returned within two (2) weeks of the agreed return date, the Renter will be charged the market value of the Item, as determined by the Owner or The Dress Vault. Failure to return an Item may also result in account suspension or permanent removal from the platform.
  6. Alterations and Damage Renters are not permitted to alter or modify any rented Item. If an Item is returned altered, damaged, or permanently changed, the Renter will be charged the market value of the Item, as determined by the Owner or The Dress Vault. Normal wear from reasonable use is expected, but significant damage, stains, or missing parts will result in additional charges.
  7. Cancellations You may cancel your rental order according to the following terms: 45 days or more before the rental start date: full refund to the original payment method. Less than 45 days before the rental start date: credit issued to your The Dress Vault account, which does not expire. Orders that have been modified after checkout (e.g., change of event date) are not eligible for refunds.
  8. Limitation of Liability The Dress Vault acts solely as a platform to facilitate user transactions. We are not liable for: Any lost, stolen, damaged, or misrepresented Items, Any shipping errors or delays, Any direct or indirect damages resulting from user-to-user agreements. All users engage with the platform at their own risk.
  9. Governing Law This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under or related to this Agreement shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located within the State of Missouri.
